Above under "Distribution of IQ" it says;

a) 95% of IQ scores fall between 70 and 130

b) 5% of people have an IQ under 70

That doesn't leave many of the rest of us.

It must refer to percentiles: Being percentile 5 means 5% of the population have a lower score than yours ( you are smarter than 5% of the population). If you are in the 95 percentile, then 95% of the population have a lower score than you (you are smarter than 95% of the population).

The way the site gives statistical information is muddled. The original poster is quite correct, those two statements, taken as they are written, mean there are NO people with IQ over 130. I'm sure they didn't -mean- to say that, but that's what their statement says. Either they do not understand math, or the English language, as such I'd be leery of taking an IQ test on such a site.

And if you are defending them, and do not see the painfully obvious and glaring logic problem with their statement, you do not need to take an IQ test, your IQ is below average.

That is saying that 5% of people have an IQ lower than 70 or above 130... It never said anywhere that the remaining five percent are limited to the under 70 category, you just assumed that above 130 was out of the question. So, does not compute was the proper title for your comment. I scored a 149 and a 155... I'm a pre-dental/med student but I'm very lazy. I still get a 4.0 but IQ doesn't measure every aspect of success because I also have ADHD and anger problems but have learned to work around both.

it's just a normal Standard deviation/ distribution. stats about IQ.

If you read all of the list it doesn't just say those 2 thing it also has other ratings. It is just say the percentage between each of them. I think it also said it is 99.5% is between 70-140. So it is just showing the % between each score.
